The movie was bland and boring for most. I loved it because I saw it with a new friend. If it is possible for a 40 year old man to have a 19 year old friend, then Summer is a friend.

After the movie, we stopped off at the camera shop. I don't always bring my DSLR with me on trips, if I know that the country I'm going to has good cameras I can buy. I've quite the collection back home.

“You need a new camera?” Summer asked.

“For taking pictures while I'm visiting. I didn't bring the one from home. Now you say you are studying to be a photographer, so tell me which model you would buy. Which one is the best?”

He looked at the dozen or so styles and models available. Then he showed me what was the best one, in his opinion. It just so happened I agreed with him. I have learned many things in all my years as a professional photographer. Which camera was the best to use, was obvious to me seconds after I saw what was available.

The man at the counter spoke English, with an accent. He understood though what I wanted when I spoke.

“I'll take this camera, two 16 gig data cards, and four extra batteries. Oh and I'll need a camera bag also. And if it is possible, double the order with a separate camera bag.”

“You want two orders of everything you just said?” The sales clerk asked. “Why?”

“Because my tour guide and I are going picture taking today.”

Summer squealed like a boy on Christmas when he saw what I was getting for him. I told him it was to help with school. “If you are going to be a professional photographer one day, you need a good camera. I figure we can go take pictures today.”

Instead of just spending one day taking pictures, we had so much fun together, it turned into two weeks. Most of the time I spent time taking pictures of Summer. Out of all the men we saw on our travels, he was the best looking.

In my books there are plenty of college aged guys of many different types. None of them compare to him. On our 14th day of taking pictures, I asked to take a detour from picture taking so we could visit the local mall again. Besides having a camera store, they have a department store with a photo printing department.

“I have something to do Summer, so can you give me about a half hour? We can meet up at the pretzel place.”

When I met up with him, I had a photo book with 60 picture of him, and him and I together. It had been a fun two weeks, and now he would have a memory book to remember our time taking pictures.

“This is to tell you how much I am thankful for you being my guide. I'm going to hate when the summer ends.”
